Red Sandstone Nature Trail

A 6 km, two-hour town nature trail leading up to the Óvári lookout — Almádi's geology, red sandstone, panoramic views and only gentle climbs.

Red Sandstone Nature Trail

The Red Sandstone Nature Trail is 6 kilometres long and comfortably walked in about two hours. It starts on Városháza tér (Town Hall Square), marked with a blue triangle, crosses Szent Imre utca and the Kis-erdő woods, then climbs to the Óvári lookout. Along the way you'll see the town's characteristic reddish rock — the red sandstone formed in the Permian period that built Almádi's houses, churches and the Csere-hegy lookout.

From the Balatoni Est Guesthouse the start of the trail is a 15-minute walk away on Városháza tér. It's a good family outing — not really a mountain hike, more of an urban walk with a few viewpoints. Sturdy shoes and water are enough, and the Óvári lookout is a great place to stop and rest. From there the view stretches across the Fűzfő bay towards Vörösberény.
