Veszprém Zoo (Kittenberger Kálmán Botanical and Wildlife Park)

Veszprém Zoo lies in the Fejes Valley, a forested landscape of small valleys and rocky outcrops — one of the most scenic wildlife parks in Hungary. It takes its name from the African explorer Kálmán Kittenberger and is home to nearly 150 species, including lions, giraffes, an elephant, wolves and many native Hungarian farm animals.

From the Balatoni Est Guesthouse it is about a 20-minute drive along road 72 towards Veszprém. Opening hours vary by season: 9:00–15:00 in winter, 9:00–18:00 in summer. A full walk around takes 2–3 hours — enough to fill half a day, especially with children. The terrain is hilly, so wear comfortable shoes. There is a snack bar and a playground at the entrance; check veszpremzoo.hu for the latest ticket prices.
